The Benefits of Juicing
Garrick Dee, founder of juicing with G, shares his juicing journey. He includes his mistakes and offers, not only information on juicing, but related health products. His continual research helps bring information to the public.
In this article, we will summarize reviews he has made available on the best, most inexpensive juice extractor and an alternative that is a bit more expensive but the best for its uses.
When buying a juicer, inexpensive or expensive, buy what suits you and your lifestyle. Buy what you feel comfortable using every day. After all, the whole idea of juicing is to improve our health and quality of our lives. That’s the point! So get what suits you from the get go.
Before we get into which is the best juicer, let’s examine what juicing is and why do it. Juicing gets needed nutrients into our body at a faster rate because the fiber is removed. The body does not have to work as hard to get those nutrients. And all in less time. I know some people who really need to chew. That’s fine. You don’t have to give up your entire way of eating. You can just include juicing in the beginning, say in the mornings.
Are you old enough to remember Jack Le Lane? I remember him on black and white TV. Not too long ago I saw a program he once again starred in with his wife. He was well up in years, but his health was enviable and his appearance even more so. In the 1950s when he had his programs, it was mostly for housewives. He encouraged women to exercise. How caring, really. People laughed at him. Guess who has the last laugh now.
He promotes juicing. And if anyone wants proof of the benefits, Jack La Lane is a living example. He has a super juicer, with recipes and all. Once more he is in the forefront of a now health conscience nation.
So, just to mention some specific benefits of juicing:
· Allows a wide variety of vegetables and fruits to be consumed. Most people do not have the time or ability to consume 3 to 5 pounds of vegetables daily. Juicing fills that gap.
· Juicing feeds good bacteria to the gut. Hippocrates, father of modern western medicine, said that all diseases begin in the gut.
· Helps fight cancer. Helps patients undergoing chemo to keep nourished.
· Lowers high cholesterol.
· Improves skin condition.
· Enhances athletic performance.
It’s my understanding that outside of my old fashioned glass juice from another age, there are basically two types of juicers: a centrifugal juicer and a masticating juicer. There are major differences that affect the quality of the juice. The centrifugal juicer shreds the produce and has a somewhat wet pulp left over. It extracts the juice at high speeds. The masticator operates at a slow speed, crushing and squeezing the juice out of the produce and leaving a somewhat dry pulp. The juice is juicer and tastes a bit better.
The best for the money on the market according to Garrick is the Cuisinart CJE-1000. It is great for people starting out on their juice journey. It is not that good with leafy vegetables, but in this beginning stage, fruits are more on the menu. Greens can be added, though, like celery and chard. It is easy to assemble and easy to clean. It has a 3-year warranty. It’s relatively quiet and will not disturb your neighbors.
The best masticating juicer ranking number 1 is KuvingsWhole Slow Juicer. It is a bit expensive, but well worth it. It has a 3” chute which saves preparation time, it has a chopping feature no other juicer has, and even a self-cleaning feature for the strainer. A 100-page recipe book is included. Plus, there are helpful videos.
